Did you know you can embed the GUI of REAPER plugins directly into your tracks like this? 👇
Almost every REAPER plugin that has a graphic interface, has a way to embed it to your tracks! 🤩
This is infinitely useful for stuff like EQ, compressors, limiters, gates and so on. Having a quick access to these from your mixer is super valuable. Also possible to do it from your track panel!
How to show embedded UI
It’s simple.
Just right click on a REAPER plugin in your mixer and select Show embedded UI
You can either put it in your track panel or mixer panel!
Some extra ideas
Here are some more cool stuff you can do with this feature 👇
Save as default
You can save any of the plugins with the embedded UI as the default for all new tracks.
I’ve seen people use this a lot with the VU Meter plugin, this way all of their new tracks has an embedded VU meter in their mixers.
How to save tracks with default FX:
- Make a new track and load whatever FX you want as default.
- In the FX window, right click anywhere in empty area of the list and select FX Chains > Save all FX as default for new tracks…
Done! Now, every new track will have the effects and settings that you setup when you saved it as default. This will also remember if you embedded it to track panel or mixer.
Handy actions
There’s a bunch of actions for embed that can make for some interesting workflows.
Just search for embed in the Actions menu and you will get a list of the possible stuff you can do. Things to show/hide FX, show last FX, and show next/previous FX.
VU Meter
If you have ReaPack installed, you probably have the plugin VU Meter (Zenomod). This one looks way better than REAPER’s plugin!
I made a post about this plugin you can check out here.
